With four full years of community building, fantastic events, and many many dear moments we will remember for years to come, it is a bittersweet time in which we announce this new transition.... |
On June 29th, The Starving Artist will host its final event at 10 West Street...BUT WE AREN'T DISAPPEARING FOREVER! |
|
We will be going wall-less, existing as a PRODUCING ENTITY and POP-UP Venue, reclaiming public spaces, renting underused halls, and partnering with several regional organizations. We believe we can serve a larger community by dedicating our limited time to making select events as excellent as can be! We will REDUCE the number of events we host each year, REUSE many of the great bands that have previously come through our doors such as The Low Anthem, Joe Pug, and so many others who put Keene on the map for touring acts, and RECYCLE forgotten and underused spaces that need life and the spark of creative stimulus! We are still committed to supporting local musicians and artists through performing slots, our CD Release Competition, and other NEW means of creative cataclysm. Our constant goal has been to encourage, support, and enable artists to pursue their craft. We founders have continued pursuing our own creative careers full-time while operating the space as a community outreach initiative. As of late, the balancing act of paying proper attention to a weekly-booked venue and the personal pursuit of art has become increasingly challenging. In order to keep the mission of The Starving Artist vibrant and effective we are embarking on this new phase. |
THE FUTURE: The Starving Artist isn't going anywhere! We are dedicated to artists of this region and plan to continue discovering how to best serve them. This phase will be an experiment, and may result in re-aquiring a new physical location further down the road. So stay TUNED as we move forward. Stay ACTIVE by attending events, submitting your work, following us on Facebook. And TAKE THIS JOURNEY WITH US! THESE LAST DAYS WILL BE BITTERSWEET! We would really love for you to be a part one or more of our LAST FIVE CONCERTS and say farewell to 10 West Street! |
