The Starving Artist is developing a theatre workshop whose aim will be to foster the development of local theatre artists. We hope to gather a group of artists who will work together to enhance their craft through a variety of exercises, improvisations, staged readings and full productions. We will be meeting on a weekly basis. At each meeting we will dedicate a portion of time to acting exercises designed to build creativity, expand awareness of movement, and foster truth and honesty in performance. We will also spend a portion of the meeting discussing future projects and/or rehearsing. These future projects may be new plays developed by the group or local playwrights, productions of classics that provide a fresh perspective, or educational works developed be performed for schools. To that end we invite all theatre artists to our first meeting to be held on September 28th, led by local professional actor Geoff Wilson We would like this workshop to include as many of our local theatre artists as possible, of every level of experience, and we will make a concerted effort to avoid conflicts with existing theatre groups.
